Bubble Bobble 2 Walkthrough
Bubble Bobble 2 is the Flash version of the NES game, Bubble Bobble Part 2, which was released by Taito in 1993. This game should not be confused with the arcade game, Bubble Bobble 2, which is also known as Bubble Symphony. Two versions of Bubble Bobble Part 2 were created, one for the NES, and one for the Game Boy (also known as Bubble Bobble Junior). Both versions had their own separate storylines. This Flash port portrays the NES version.
The NES version of Bubble Bobble Part 2 featured an opening cinematic that explained the storyline. This cinematic is not present in this Flash rendition of the classic game, so I will explain the gist of the story here. You as the player portray a boy named Cub, whose girlfriend, Judy, has been captured by a skull creature. You turn into a bubble dragon and now it is up to you to rescue your girlfriend.
The objective of Bubble Bobble 2 is to defeat all enemies on each stage to progress to the next. To defeat an enemy, they must be captured in a bubble, then the bubble must be popped. When the bubble is popped, an item will be dropped that can be collected for points. When all enemies are defeated, additional items may spawn on stage that can be collected for even more bonus points. Colliding with enemies that are not trapped in bubbles costs one life. When all lives are lost, the game is over.
Bubble Bobble 2 is not a very complex game as most classic games at the time did not have huge manuals to memorize. That does not mean that it is not challenging, however! To overcome this challenge, try to capture enemies that are close to you so that you can pop their bubbles easily. If you leave a captured enemy in a bubble for too long, it will escape and once again become a nuisance for you. Also, keep in mind that falling into a hole will not result in death, but will instead cause you to reappear at the top of the screen. This technique is useul for reaching places that you cannot make it to by jumping.
Bubble Bobble 2 is an excellent recreation of the classic game, Bubble Bobble Part 2. If you enjoyed the NES version of the game, or just want to try a classic game for the first time without downloading an emulator of buying an old NES, then give Bubble Bobble 2 a try!
