Donkey Kong Walkthrough
Donkey Kong is a platform game that was released in arcades in 1981 by Nintendo. Donkey Kong spawned two direct sequels, Donkey Kong Jr. and Donkey Kong 3. This classic game was also the first game that featured the the famous Nintendo characters, Donkey Kong and Mario (known in this game as Jumpman), which went on to star in many of our favorite Nintendo games such as Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, Super Smash Bros., and more. This Flash game is a port of the original arcade game, Donkey Kong.
The objective in this Flash port is the same as it was in the original Donkey Kong, save the damsel in distress from the giant ape, Donkey Kong! In order to do this, you will have to scale the tower and avoid traps such as flames, barrels thrown by Donkey Kong, and other obstacles. If you are hit by a dangerous object, you will lose one life. When all lives are lost, the game is over. This arcade game has a total of four levels, but many gamers may have difficulty just beating the first!
The controls in this Flash port emulate the controls of the classic game. Use the left and right arrow keys to run and the up and down arrow keys to climb ladders. The spacebar is used to jump. Speaking of jumping, Donkey Kong was not the first platform game (that honor goes to Universal's Space Panic), but it was the first platform game that allowed players to jump!
Like many classic arcade games, Donkey Kong has a simple concept and simple controls, but it is extremely difficult. In fact, Donkey Kong's difficulty has been noted in competitive circles; if "professional" gamers find this arcade game difficult, you can be sure that it will provide a challenge for casual players! The key here is patience. Don't get too frustrated if you lose on the first level of this classic game, just keep at it and eventually you'll make it through.
If you want to relive your childhood or just kick back and enjoy an arcade classic, then give this Flash port of Donkey Kong a try. This classic game is a pillar in gaming history, and you can play it here as long as you want for free!
